Amy & Roger in Houston, TX

Amy & Roger in Houston, TX
Amy and Roger tied the knot in a romantic and festive fall affair in Houston

Photos By: Zontini Studios
Event Planning: Belle of The Ball
Location: Paraiso Maravilla
The day of the wedding, 180 guests gathered at Paraiso Maravilla in downtown Houston. As the sun set, a string quartet played and Reverend Nancy Smith, a close friend of Amy‘s family, presided over a personal ceremony. Afterward, Amy‘s father escorted Roger‘s mother and Roger‘s father escorted Amy‘s mother as a symbol of their new extended family.
Amy wore an A-line Lazaro gown featuring a fitted bodice and gold embroidery.
Because the celebration was spread out into several rooms, Amy and Roger opted for food stations. Open seating kept people moving about, and Amy and Roger took advantage of the mingling to thank guests for being there.
"The whole day was one of elegance, warmth, and fun," says Amy. The golds, reds, and oranges of the flowers, dresses, and linens gave everything an elegant autumn feeling. Hundreds of candles, plus the fountains and fireplaces at Paraiso Maravilla, contributed to the warm glow.
For a year after being introduced by a mutual friend, Amy Peck and Roger Horton kept bumping into each other without ever going on a date. "Roger, being very British and therefore very proper, finally asked me out in December of 2001," Amy says. The following year, Amy went to England with Roger to meet his family. "The Horton clan was one that made me feel like I was with my own family," remembers Amy. "That's when I knew."

Back in Houston, Roger took Amy to "their restaurant" and after a five-course meal, he proposed. Then two friends arrived with champagne and blindfolded Amy. When the blindfold came off, Amy was in Roger's house surrounded by family and friends. "He had even flown my sister in from Boston," remembers Amy. "It was the best night of my life!"
